FAQ

Plans and billing

Why pay monthly if my site works fine?

Sites break when they fall behind. Plugins that go unpatched are the most common way WordPress sites get hacked. A plan keeps your site current and backed up, so a bad day costs you an hour instead of the whole site.

What's included in a plan?

Every plan includes weekly updates to WordPress, plugins and your theme with a check of your main pages afterwards, daily off-site backups, uptime and security monitoring, a monthly report, and fixes if an update breaks something. Business and Store add priority support and time for small changes each month.

What's different about the Store plan?

It's made for WooCommerce shops. On top of everything in Business, it adds more frequent backups, a test order after every update so you know checkout still works, and 2 hours of changes a month.

What if I want to cancel?

Tell us at least 5 days before your next payment date and your plan won't renew. There's no contract and no cancellation fee, and we'll hand over your latest backup.

What isn't included?

Redesigns, new pages and custom features. We quote those separately.

Can I switch plans later?

Yes. Move up or down whenever your site changes. The new price starts with your next payment.

Do I have to move my hosting?

No. We work with whatever host you use now. If the host turns out to be part of a problem, we tell you and take it up with them.

What counts as a "small change"?

Editing text, swapping a photo, adding a staff member or updating opening hours. Anything bigger, like a new page or a redesign, we quote separately. Unused hours don't roll over.

FAQ

How we look after your site

How often do you update my site?

Every week. We update WordPress, plugins and your theme, then check your main pages. If an update breaks something, we roll it back and fix it.

How do you keep my site secure?

By keeping everything up to date, which closes the holes attackers most often use, and by monitoring the site for security problems. Daily off-site backups mean that if something does get through, we can clean it up and restore a working copy. No one can promise a site will never be hacked, but these steps make it much less likely.

Do you send reports?

Yes. Every month you get a report showing what was updated and backed up, how often the site was up, and how fast it loads.

Do I have to give you my password?

No. You add us as a separate admin user, and you can remove that user whenever you like.

Someone else built my site. Can you still look after it?

Yes. The free site check tells us both what shape it's in before you commit to anything.

FAQ

Emergencies

My site is already broken. Which plan do I need?

Start with an emergency fix for $199. If you join a plan afterwards, the $199 comes off your first months.

Do I need to be on a plan?

No. Anyone with a WordPress site can use an emergency fix.

What if it happens again?

On a maintenance plan, we watch the site and fix update breakages at no extra charge.

Will I lose my content?

No. We back up the site exactly as it is before we change anything, so your pages, posts and orders are kept while we remove what doesn't belong.

How long does a hacked site cleanup take?

Most cleanups are finished within a day of getting access.

What if it gets hacked again?

If the same hole is used again within 30 days, we clean it again at no charge. On a plan, we keep everything updated so it doesn't happen.

My host suspended the site. Can you still help?

Yes. Hosts usually reopen access for a cleanup, or give us the files. We'll tell you what to ask them for.

FAQ

Getting started

How do I get started?

Book a free site check. We'll look over your site and send a short list of what we found and which plan fits. If you go ahead, you add us as an admin user and we take a full backup before we touch anything.

Which areas do you cover?

Maryland, Washington DC and Northern Virginia. The work is done remotely, so the plans and prices are the same everywhere.

Still have a question?

Send us a message, or book a free site check and ask it there.
